stretched thin: graphics

I am so glad that you all enjoyed our take on "visual aids". Robert and I, along with others are on a mission to change people's approach to presentations from yucky bullets to pretty pictures. So let the movement begin! haha... Below I have outlined a list of stock photo sites (FREE IMAGES!), some great sites for inspirations on design, a few books worth noting that help readers think about how to take a "bulleted" slide and make it more visually appealing, and lastly a few online sites or blogs dedicated to the "movement" haha. Please comment, questions, add your own sites or resources.

Stock Photo Sites
The one that I personally use, and find to be the best is "stock exchange" found at http://www.sxc.hu/. I know, weird link, but it works. Now for this one, you do need to "register" to have a log in, but its completely free and I have yet to get one piece of spam from them. Once your logged in and find a picture you'd like to download, just click on it. The first page you'll go to is your "light box" just click on the image again, a tab or second window will open in your browser with a ginormous size of the picture. Right click on the big picture and save it in a folder. If I have some down time I will just go on there and peruse the pictures, and save them to my image folder when I like them so I have them on file for my next presentation.

Here are a few other sites to check out...
Morgue File -Providing "...free image reference material for use in all creative pursuits.
Flickr's Creative Commons pool -Search the myriad photos people are sharing on flickr by the type of CC license.
Image*After -From their site: "Image*After is a large online free photo collection. You can download and use any image or texture...and use it in your own work, either personal or commercial."
Everystockphoto. Indexing over 283,000 free photos.
Studio.25: Digital Resource Bank.
Freepixels. About 2000 photos.
The Photoshop tutorial blog. This cool blog has a laundry list of free photo sites.
